Dow AgroSciences Trait Product Development R&D is looking for a Laboratory Research Associate for our Purdue Research Park facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. The selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for the production of plants via tissue culture and transformation that interacts closely with other functions in Dow AgroSciences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Supporting the production of transgenic commercial dicotyledon plants and cell cultures in a high throughput environment.
* Recommending technical improvements related to cell culture, transformation and media preparation.
* Developing and performing laboratory procedures following standard protocols with minimal supervision and with a strong focus on quality and efficiency.
* Plan and coordinate needs for experiments that are performed with a customer focus.
* Coordinating and supporting interrelated activities to advance transgenic plants in product development, including sample preparation, sample tracking, and advancing plants to the greenhouse.
* Training and oversight of work done by Contract Research Associates.
This position is located in West Lafayette, IN, USA.
* Bachelors or Master's degree in Biology, Agronomy, Biochemistry or related area.
* Demonstrated laboratory experience on commercial dicotyledon plant transformation and/or plant tissue culture techniques.
* Commitment to safety and teamwork in the workplace.
* Demonstration of strong personal leadership, initiative and accountability to deliver against project goals is essential for success.
* Demonstrated experience working in teams is highly desired.
* Knowledge of standard information technologies in a research environment (Basic computer literacy, software, databases, lab systems etc.) is necessary.
* Working knowledge of standard molecular biology technologies (PCR, DNA and RNA isolation and analysis, etc).
* Experience working in a plant sciences industrial setting is preferred.
* Familiarity with databases and automation is a plus.
