Dow Chemical Activity Coordinator / Gate Keeper in South Charleston, West Virginia
The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for anActivity Coordinator / Gate KeeperinSouth Charleston, West Virginia, to support the West Virginia Operations (WVO) Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure Activity Coordinator / Gate Keeper (AC/GK) is responsible for safe, reliable operation of shared assets within WVO Infrastructure. The AC/GK also ensures that maintenance work is planned and carried out in a manner that is safe, effective, and value added.
Work with plant personnel and expertise centers to coordinate, prioritize and schedule plant activities and shutdowns.
Ensures value added and complete work requests are generated.
Understands the department strategy, budget, business objectives, value added criteria and daily operations.
Provides a resource within the department to ensure maintenance activities create value and are schedule in an optimal manner.
Communicate plant status to key stakeholders.
Ensure electronic tools are utilized effectively.
Develop and implement operating discipline as needed to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Ensure appropriate resources are allocated to perform tasks and activities
Schedule plant activities.
Provide guidance to plant operations for equipment troubleshooting and planning/scheduling/resourcing of work.
Utilize Management of Change process appropriately.
Manage the active maintenance and operations backlog.
Ensure both the Operate Plant and Global Maintenance Work Processes are followed and activities are appropriately aligned.
Develop equipment maintenance plans and support plant maintenance strategy.
Support Infrastructure excavation needs by planning jobs and coordinating permitting process.
Manage work within department budget.
Accurately forecast spending within 5% and manage unplanned work to achieve that result.
Participate in weekend/holiday on-call schedule.
Availability during off-hours to assist with operations issues as needed.
Six (6) or more years of experience in an Operations or Maintenance role.
Current, valid US driver's license.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and have strong reading comprehension and listening skills.
Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.
Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Able to work independently and show high initiative.
A self-starter who is self-motivated and can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
Able to work within an empowered team environment.
Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Previous experience using SAP and electronic tools
Working knowledge of the Global Maintenance Work Process and Global Turnaround Work Process
Experience with planning and execution of daily work and expense and capital projects
Proficient in Dow tools, including OPD and SAP/ECC.
Demonstrated understanding of and compliance with Dow’s Life Critical Standards.
An Associate's degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance or similar field is an asset.
Four (4) or more years of military training/experience in Operations or Maintenance, or similar field is an asset.
- A minimum of an High School Diploma or GED is required.
