Dow Chemical Maintenance Technician in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for routine and non-routine maintenance activities on the sites' manufacturing and process equipment. Daily tasks include performing maintenance in the areas of fluid power, pneumatics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), mechanical and electrical systems and working with scheduling and planning software. Technicians coordinate troubleshooting efforts and strive to implement improvements with operations and engineers as needed to assure the day to day site operation.
The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation if the position is offered to someone who lives outside the area or reimbursement for travel to and from interviews. If you consider a position that is not within the area you reside you will be responsible for all cost that incur.
2 years of manufacturing, industrial, or fabrication maintenance, or aircraft/auto mechanic experience.
Able to willing to work a shift schedule as defined and to fill overtime needs
Able to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required
Able to work both 3rd shift and 5th shift on a long term basis. (3rd shift: Monday night - Friday morning: 10:30 pm-8:30 am. 5th shift Friday - Sunday 6:30 pm – 7:00 am). The manager will do his/her best to assign you to the shift of your preference, but you must be able to work either shift in order to be considered for these positions.
Participate as an on call resource for an average of 1.5 times per month to support 24/7 operations
Able to lift 45 pounds
Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments working in tight or closed-in spaces.
Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.
Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Must have a current, valid US driver’s license
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) experience.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
Associate’s degree in Process Technology or Process Automation /4 years military experience
