The primary responsibility of the Environmental Consultant is to conduct environmental science evaluations in support of product development, regulatory, wastewater, and environmental stewardship programs. * Provide consultation to Dow businesses and manufacturing operations on a wide variety of environmental issues (e.g., PBT, Endocrine, SVHC, etc.)
* Provide technical expertise to define and assess the potential environmental exposures and risks associated with Dow products, processes and wastes, and advise the corporation on appropriate risk management strategies.
* Assist in the conduct of risk assessments of chemicals, including mechanisms of action, exposure amounts, and bioavailability to support product development/commercialization/registration under US-TSCA, EU REACh, etc.
* Provide leadership of scientific research on environmental topics of interest to Dow businesses, and to the corporation as a whole.

ThisEnvironmental Consultantwill have a working knowledge of U.S. and International chemicals regulatory frameworks (and associated testing requirements and guidelines), and must demonstrate a track record of effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects. This Environmental Consultant will work individually and within a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary team environment. Presentation of scientific research at technical symposia and in peer-reviewed publications is expected in this role.
* PhD with 5-7 years of experience in Environmental Chemistry/Sciences OR MS Environmental Chemistry/Sciences with 10 years experience will also be considered.
* Specific expertise in environmental sciences is required, with prior research or consulting experience in the study ofecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, or multi-media fate/transport of chemicals. 
* Strong foundations in chemistry, microbiology, and toxicological sciences are necessary.  
* Demonstrated experience in application of experimental design and project management in these areas including methods and approaches (e.g., QSARS, models) to predict chemical fate and effect endpoints is strongly preferred.
* Recent consulting experience with providing interpretation of the processes which influence the partitioning, transport, lifetime, and ecotoxicology of chemicals in environmental systems is required.

In addition a good understanding and/or experience with Dow’s work processes such as Supply Chain, Record &amp; Report, Manage Information, Environment, Health and Safety etc is key to a fast and thorough understanding of the role. On top of these technical and work process skills the ideal incumbent has strong interpersonal skills and is results driven as frequent interaction with multiple I/S colleagues and partners will be needed to further develop the environment and to resolve issues in the environment. 

The overall accountability for the Operational SME can be broken down in the following primary responsibilities:

The Dow Chemical Company located in Midland, MI is seeking qualified individuals for Security Student Officer Co-op opportunities. 

The co-op will provide security at the Plant and process the flow of personnel and materials at the gate locations of the Midland area corporate, manufacturing, and research locations.

Candidates must also be able to relate and communicate professionally with customers, and show ability to change priorities, and handle multiple tasks. Teamwork and cooperation, as well as independent initiative are critical.

Must be majoring in either Criminal Justice or Fire Science.



Job duties for the Local Student Program include entry level-tasks, therefore, we are seeking candidates who have less than 3 years of professional work experience.
* Minimum of 1 to 2 year commitment to the program
* All candidates that receive a job offer will be required to:
* Pass a Substance Abuse (drug) screen and a medical evaluation
* Pass a background check

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
* Students must be enrolled at an accredited LOCAL College or University with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester
* Students must have and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.700 or higher on a 4.000 scale to met the requirement of Dow's Local Student Program
* Students must enroll and successfully complete 6 semester credits or more during the fall and winter terms to remain eligible to participate in the Student Program
* Students must commit to working between 20 - 30 hours per week during school session
