The Run Plant Engineer is a technical resource for Operations personnel, applying technical skills within the Manage Production work process, to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enables safe production of low cost, high quality emulsion polymers. The engineer works as a member of the site operating team ensuring excellence in site safety, operations and maintenance. The role provides a technical resource to assist all work teams on daily operations, process performance improvement and new product scale-up.


Key Responsibilities:
* Active support and participation in Site environmental, health and safety initiatives to drive EH&amp;S excellence. Participates in and / or leads Management of Change Reviews.
* Understands all applicable Coatings process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel it to optimize operations, meet Coatings Business and Kankakee site goals for safety, quality and cost.
* Lead optimization activities and ongoing process improvement initiatives, including projects for EHS compliance, reliability, capacity, process consistency, quality and cost reduction.
* Participates in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Utilizes Root Cause Analysis techniques to identify and drive improvements to prevent recurrent issues.
* Implements best practices in operations in order to optimize operations. Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET), and specific Operating Discipline requirements are in place. 
* Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant / Business.
* Understands and applies skills and knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) technology, to maximize plant asset utilization and produce low cost, quality products.
* Initiates changes to Plant Operating procedures to ensure they are valid and up to date. Works with Production Technicians in this respect
* Networks with other engineers on site and within the Coatings business to leverage knowledge on plant operations
* As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.
* As required participates on and leads teams in his/her area of accountability
* Support operator training and certification as required.

Education and Experience:
* B.S. Chemical Engineering preferred
* 2 years plant production / process experience
* Knowledge of Emulsion Chemistry desired
* Knowledge of DeltaV control system preferred
* Ability to work effectively on multiple projects
* Strong interpersonal skills

Dow Advanced Materials has an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician responsible for the maintenance and repairs for all plant process and utilities equipment for the Kankakee, Illinois facility. 

Key Responsibilities:
* 
Troubleshooting process equipment problems
* 
Troubleshooting plant utility systems including boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, water softeners, and tempered water systems.
* 
Completing preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM) assignments Responsible for routinely oiling and greasing equipment
* 
Tearing down rotating equipment and rebuilding with spare parts
* 
Performing on-stream vibration analysis of rotating equipment, and checking and correcting the alignment of equipment as necessary
* 
EHS in the Maintenance Department
* 
Performing all skills required including, but not limited to pipefitting, welding, electrician, instrumentation, carpentry, masonry, machinist, and operating engineer
* 
Training fellow maintenance personnel by sharing knowledge and personal expertise
* 
Maintaining spare part stock, and inventory spare parts
* 
Performing some capital project work as assigned
* 
Completing tasks assigned during scheduled equipment outages (turnaround)
* 
Keeping all tools and equipment in safe working order. 
* 
Housekeeping of the maintenance building and other assigned work areas. 
* 
Security of maintenance property including equipment, tools, spare parts, and maintenance building.
* 
Planning responsibilities when the Maintenance Planner is unavailable
Education and Experience:
* High School or GED required; Technical School Associates Degree preferred
* Valid Driver's license required
* Electrical maintenance skills
* Millwright skills including machine and rotating equipment repair
* Welding skills
* Electronic Instrumentation skills (digital and analog)
* Pipefitting skills
* 5 years of industrial maintenance experience required. Prefer process industry experience.
* Demonstrates strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Proficiency of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel) andSAP R/3.
* Working knowledge ofSAP highly desired
* Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
* Requires strong planning and organization skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* PLC and Instrument Tech capabilities.
* Demonstrates strong bias for action.
* Operate a forklift and mechanical lifting devices
Special Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
* 
May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, performs sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.

Works and travels throughout the plant environments of varied temperatures and humidity

Climbs ladders and stairs and works on elevated platforms.

May use hand tools and operate fixed and mobile plant equipment.
* Wears a full-face respirator, SCBA and other personal protective equipment.
