The engineer works as a member of the site operating team ensuring excellence in site safety, operations and maintenance. The role provides a technical resource to assist all work teams on daily operations, process performance improvement and new product scale-up.\n\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n* Active support and participation in Site environmental, health and safety initiatives to drive EH&S excellence. Participates in and / or leads Management of Change Reviews.\n* Understands all applicable Coatings process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel it to optimize operations, meet Coatings Business and Kankakee site goals for safety, quality and cost.\n* Lead optimization activities and ongoing process improvement initiatives, including projects for EHS compliance, reliability, capacity, process consistency, quality and cost reduction.\n* Participates in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Utilizes Root Cause Analysis techniques to identify and drive improvements to prevent recurrent issues.\n* Implements best practices in operations in order to optimize operations. Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET), and specific Operating Discipline requirements are in place. \n* Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant / Business.\n* Understands and applies skills and knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) technology, to maximize plant asset utilization and produce low cost, quality products.\n* Initiates changes to Plant Operating procedures to ensure they are valid and up to date.
