Title: Fermentation Scientist / Biochemical Engineer - Bioprocess R&D
Location: Indiana-Indianapolis
Dow AgroSciences is seeking a Biochemical Engineer for the Fermentation Development Group to enable Dow AgroSciences to deliver against its ambitious growth strategy, especially in Agro-Biotechnology. The successful candidate is supposed to actively contribute to the improvement of DAS and Dow fermentation processes leveraging his/her expertise to R&D and industrial scale manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

Independently design and lead laboratory-scale fermentation research projects based on a strong command of biochemical and engineering principles.

Support the scale up by optimizing fermentation conditions across scales from micro titer plate through industrial scale bioreactors.

Drive process improvements and innovative technical solutions for the diverse Dow and DASs fermentation based products.
*
Working with senior technical staff in R&D and manufacturing.
*
Work in a collaborative environment with other biotechnology specialists interacting effectively internally and across business functions to achieve project goals.

Apply complex data analysis tools and write experiment reports to support DAS business and R&D needs.

Interface and work with multiple internal customers in different parts of the organization, including balancing competing priorities.

Monitor and implement emerging technology offerings to improve fermentation performance and build a network to external collaboration partners to achieve strategic objectives.

* PhD in Biochemical Engineering or related discipline, MS with 3-5 years of experience.
* Experience in bioprocess development with aerobic microorganisms is required.
* Hands-on research experience in fermentation and bioprocess development is required.
* Experience in leading teams in a complex environment is of advantage.
* A highly interactive operational style, capable to working in multidisciplinary teams
