The Dow Chemical Company has an immediate opening for a Technical Service & Development (TS&D) specialist ( m/f )in Industrial Coatings for Dow Performance Silicones based in Seneffe, Belgium , working on both regional and global projects.
Dow Corning, a 73 year JV focused on silicones, was fully acquired by Dow Chemical in June 2016 and joined the Dow family as Dow Performance Silicones in Consumer Solutions.
**Tasks and Responsibilities:
Scientific Method: Makes appropriate and effective use of the scientific method to define and rapidly address technical problems and opportunities; conducts and analyzes literature reviews; envisions a critical path through complex problems by developing, testing and modifying hypotheses with appropriate design of experiments and data analysis; creatively initiates, develops, and implements value-creating innovative solutions for customers and clients; quantifies, manages, communicates and takes appropriate risk; conducts scientific work with the highest standards of ethics and in compliance with all legal requirements; effectively leads technical projects and uses Six Sigma methodologies and Dow work processes, while achieving balance between process discipline and freedom for creative scientific discovery; makes Dow’s environmental, health and safety standards, including sustained development principles, an integral part of job.

Qualification and Requirements:
This role requires a minimum of a Masters degree in Chemistry (or related field) and significant>10 years industrial coatings paint formulation and application experience(this could include protective, marine, industrial wood, industrial metal)
Strong customer experience/focus and demonstrated good relationship building are needed. Safety is our top priority, other desired attributes are critical thinking, troubleshooting and project management. A good team player and individual contributor is required.
The successful candidate will be fluent in English; another European language (i.e. German) is desired.
Travel (usually within Europe) is required – usually about 25% of the time.
The candidate should demonstrate a passion for chemistry, applying innovative ideas to enhance current or new products and have a very strong formulation expertise and track record of delivery in Industrial Coatings. Experience in silicones would be ideal, but training will be provided as needed.
