U.S. Crop Protection R&amp;D is seeking a Field Scientist for the Coastal States to: (1) plan and implement field research and development programs to validate the field performance of new molecules from the discovery pipeline and new product concepts; (2) recognize future marketplace needs and influence the development of new product concepts; and (3) develop and maintain effective relationships with academic and private research collaborators, key customers, and other centers of influence; and characterizes new products through self-initiated field trials.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·     Plan and implement field research programs to validate the performance of new molecules from the discovery pipeline and new product concepts in development.
·     Develop research proposals, including protocols with interpretive intent and resource needs, for assigned key questions per the documented process.
·     Implement the latest methods for experimental design and interpretive analysis to address questions within the scope of the product characterization process.
·     Establish research relationships with university and consultant cooperators. 
·     Identify new business opportunities for Dow AgroSciences, keep abreast of market trends, and influence development of new products.
·     Develop and maintain key contacts within the technical community (university, extension, federal and state agencies, natural resource non-governmental organizations, and industry/commodity associations).     
·     Promote proper use of Dow AgroSciences products through development and delivery of product stewardship programs.
·    A minimum of a Masters degree in entomology, weed science, agronomy or plant pathology is required. However, a PhD in entomology is preferred.
·    An in-depth knowledge of the theories and practices of agricultural science
·    A working knowledge of agronomic production practices, (particularly in fruit and vegetable crops, row crops), molecular biology and/or plant genetics would also be an advantage. 
·    A California PCA (Pest Control Advisor) License is strongly favored
·    A demonstrated proficiency in conducting and publishing refereed research
·    A demonstrated ability to transfer technology through scientific presentation and publication.
